PURPOSE: To enhance the accuracy of positioning a head slider and its stable floating by making the area of a flange on the base end side of a head slider supporting arm smaller than the area of a flange on the tip side of the head slider supporting arm and diminishing force of wind received by the former flange.
CONSTITUTION: The height of the flange provided on the base end side of the head slider supporting arm for the purpose of increasing the rigidity of the head slider supporting arm 4 is made lower than the height of the tip side of the head slider supporting arm. Consequently, the area of the flange 90a on the base end side of the head slider supporting arm is made smaller than the area of the flange 90b on the tip side of the head slider supporting arm. Now, when the wind generated in accordance with the rotation of a recording disk 2 is received by the flange 90, since the area of the flange 90a is smaller than the area of the flange 90b on the tip side of the arm, force of the wind to be received by the flange 90a is diminished. By this method, the accuracy of positioning the head slider 1 and its stable floating are enhanced.
