PURPOSE: To make a system thin by permitting a spring means to be connected to a housing, making a driving means pre-loaded against a platform adjusting means and permitting a magnetic tape not to move a magnetic head.
CONSTITUTION: A worm gear wheel 14 is arranged between the top and the base part of a head positioning platform 12, a driving device 16 is provided with a driving gear 22 and the gear 22 is driving-engaged with the wheel 14. A magnetic tape cassette 26 is contained inside the housing 24 and a bracket 28 is provided for fixing a step motor 18 to the housing 24. A coil spring 30 is provided so as to connect the platform 12 to the housing 24 and the gear 22 is pre-loaded to the wheel 14. By pre-loading, the head 10 is not moved by interlocking along the reading/writing head 10 of the magnetic tape 36. Thus, the system is collected inside a device with one inch height.
