PURPOSE: To realize a long sighted point of display and secure high visibility without sacrificing the head clearance of a head-up display for displaying vehicle information by projecting it on the vehicle front window.
CONSTITUTION: A polarized light source 20, which emits natural light emitted by a light source after converting it to a polarized light (S wave) of a certain oscillating direction, is incorporated into an instrument panel 16. A reflecting type LCD 30 is provided on the passenger room ceiling where the polarized light irradiating point of the polarized light source 20 is. The LCD 30 is driven so that the region equivalent to display information may reflect P wave and the region equivalent to non-display information part may reflect S wave, respectively. Among the LCD 30 reflection lights, the polarized light source 20 permeates only the polarized light emitted from the region equivalent to the display information and a reflection plate 40 projects only the polarized light permeated through the polarized light source 20 on the information display section of the front window.
