Abstract:
To reduce the possibility of thermorunaway and ignition in case of overcharging a lithium ion battery.
The nonaqueous cylindrical chargeable lithium battery is provided with a negative electrode of a lithium insert compound, a positive electrode of lithium compound, nonaqueous electrolyte, and a pressure actuating electricity isolating device allowing a current route to pass through a loop with the dimension of approximately 0.2 or more of the diameter of the battery. This isolating device actuates at a prescribed internal pressure when the erroneous use of the overcharge.
