The headrest device 10 for the vehicle comprises a headrest rear part 13 supported by a seatback 3, a headrest front part 14 which is free to advance/retract between the totally closed position 14A close to the headrest rear part 13 and the totally opened position 14B separate from the headrest rear part 13, a motor 15a to move the headrest front part 14, and an ECU 17 to control the motor 15a so that the headrest front part 14 is moved in the direction of the totally opened position 14B, the movement time is stored, the headrest front part 14 is moved backwardly for the first predetermined time based on the movement time when returning the headrest front part to the totally closed position 14A, and stopped at the position for the second predetermined time.
