To provide a health measuring technique easily and objectively determining comprehensive health based on information of a part of the body.
This health measuring system extracts a region of the tongue from an image F1 of the tongue TN obtained with a digital camera. This system measures the colors of the base SJ and nipples NT as the color of the tongue and the fur (feature quantities) to be diagnosed by the glossoscopy based on the image of the tongue region and similarly measures the shape of the tongue, a teeth mark, a tear mark, wetness of the fur, smoothness of the fur, the thickness of the fur and a pattern on the fur as the feature quantities. Information of the nine types of feature quantities is reduced into one Mahalanobis distance information used as an index of the health. The Mahalanobis distance determines the health by comparing a distance between a reference space formed using a healthy subject as a sample and a consulter. Consequently, this system can easily and objectively determine the comprehensive health based on the Mahalanobis distance (output information) reflecting the multiple feature quantities obtained from the tongue image (the image of the part of the body).
