PURPOSE: To obtain a food good for the health of eye and having extremely high safety, by using the edible plant such as dried powder of the whole grass of carrot including the leaf and/or the extract of said edible plant as main components.

CONSTITUTION: The objective food good for the health of eye can be prepared by using (A) the dried powder of the whole grass or carrot including the leaf and/or the extract of the powder and (B) dried powder of onion and/or its extract, as essential components. The onion oil, i.e. propyl allyl disulfide and allyl sulfide is effective to promote the activation of vitamin B1, metabolize the carbohydrate safely, and accordingly, prevent the accumulation of the fatigue-inducing substance such as lactic acid to the region near a cell, especially near the neurocyte. Furthermore, the onion oil is effective to synergistically promoting the activity of the antioxidant substance existing mainly in the leaf of carrot to suppress the formation of a peroxide in the body. Consequently, the formation of the lipid peroxide around the eye can be suppressed more effectively.
