To provide a heart assisting device with which a patient can move during installation, in which danger of infection is small, and in which need of surgical treatment to remove the device when it stops actuation is eliminated.
In a heart assisting device 20, a housing has an entrance 3 and an exit 4 which can be connected to heart blood vessel lines of a patient. A pump 1 is disposed in this housing, so blood entering through the entrance 3 is discharged through the exit 4. This pump 1 can be connected between a left atrium and an aorta of the patient for assisting functions of the left atrium. In the housing, a motor unit 2 is also disposed, and it is completely sealed from the pummp 1. The whole device 20 is embedded in the chest of the patient. The device 20 can be separated from the heart by closing permanently sealable valves disposed at the entrance 3 and exit 4 of the device 20.
