PURPOSE: To perform the parification of a toxic exhaust component even when high temperature gas is introduced in a high temperature state by dividing a heat accumulation body into a plurality of layers at least in the direction of fluid, in the heat accumulation body to impart the sensible heat of high temperature gas on low temperature gas through the alternate passage of high temperature gas and low temperature gas in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: In a heat accumulation combustion type burner system, when a pair of burners positioned facing each other effect alternate combustion, air for combustion preheated to a high temperature almost similar to a combustion exhaust gas temperature is produced by utilizing a heat accumulation body 3. In this case, the heat accumulation body 3 is divided into a multilayer to reduce a thermal expansion difference between blocks 3a-3c, and breakage due to the thermal expansion difference is prevented from occurring. Preferably a cushioning material 12 is nipped between the adjoining blocks 3a-3c and the heat accumulation body 3 is divided in a direction crossing a flow direction at right angles when occasion demands. Since, in corrosion of the heat accumulation body 3, the corrosion of a high temperature portion is eminently progressed and that of a low temperature portion is slowly progressed, the heat accumulation body 3 formed of a corrosion resistant material is used for only a high temperature portion and other portion is formed of a low-cost material.
