To provide a heat-curable resin composition where a cured product thereof is excellent in heat resistance, and abrasion resistance, and a friction material produced from the heat-curable resin composition.SOLUTION: A heat-curable resin composition for a friction material includes: a phenolic resin; hexamethylenetetramine; and at least one triazine compound selected from the group consisting of melamine, melamine cyanulate, guanamine, adipoguanamine, benzoguanamine, acetoguanamine, succinoguanamine, melam, melem, melamine polyphosphate, melamine sulfacte, and guanidine carbonate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
