To provide a heat developable photosensitive material having high sensitivity, giving a good silver tone and excellent in image preservability after development and an image forming method, with respect to a heat developable photosensitive material using high silver iodide and an image forming method.
The heat developable photosensitive material has an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on at least one surface of a support, wherein the photosensitive silver halide (1) is tabular grains, (2) has a silver iodide content of ≥40 mol% and (3) has been subjected to gold sensitization with at least one selected from a gold sensitizer having a bond of an anionic chalcogenide and a gold (I) cation and capable of releasing a gold-chalcogen anionic species and a gold sensitizer represented by formula (II). The image forming method is also provided.
