To provide a heat engine that strikes a balance between the improvement of a boiler pressure and the improvement of a vapor quantity, and also facilitates starting the operation thereof.
The heat engine includes: a boiler unit 11 for evaporating a hydraulic fluid 14 by heating the fluid with heat supplied from a heat source 2; an output unit 12 for converting an energy of vapor generated in the boiler unit 11 into a mechanical energy and for taking out the energy converted; a condenser 13 for condensing the vapor used by the output unit 12; and recirculation means 15, 16 for recirculating the hydraulic fluid 14 of the condenser 13 to the boiler unit 11. The recirculation means have: a hydraulic fluid introduction member 15 for sucking the hydraulic fluid 14 of the condenser 13 by a capillary force and for leading the fluid to the boiler unit 11; and a mechanical pump 16, which is driven by the mechanical energy taken out from the output unit 12, and which pumps the hydraulic fluid 14 of the condenser 13 to the boiler unit 11.
