PURPOSE: To enhance heat exchange efficiency by controlling direction of passing air and sprayed water by arranging a water/air guiding means in a serpentine piping block having a network construction which the water and air are allowed to pass through.
CONSTITUTION: In a heat exchanger, blocks 2 constituted of serpentine pipes arranged in close contact with each other are disposed in layers with evaporation heat exchanger filling material 3 with outlet side thereof being at an elevated position so that fluid in the serpentine pipes is allowed to flow in meander by means of U-shaped bent pipes provided at pipe ends from air outlet side to air inlet side. Because the serpentine pipes have an inclination formed by disposing the air outlet side thereof at an lower position, good draining can be performed. Within the blocks 2, matter to be cooled is made to flow from a header 1 in a counterflow direction of passing air (A). Guiding nets 10 are inserted at both the air inlet and air outlet sides in each of the blocks. The introduced air (A) passes through the interior of the blocks of each layer and is discharged by a fan 4. Sprayed water for cooling moves through the evaporation heat exchanger filling material 3 and the blocks 2, and is circulated for use.
