Abstract:
A heat exchanger for generating steam during the synthesis of ammonia by making use of the heat of the reaction gas, containing ammonia, has a pressure chamber for hot reaction gas with a feed line (1) and discharge line (2) as well as a pressure chamber with a feed water inlet (5) and steam outlet (6). The pressure chambers are separated from one another by a tube plate (sheet) (7), into which both ends of a number of U-tubes (8, 9) open. The tubes (8, 9) extend into the pressure chamber for water/steam. The pressure chamber for reaction gas is subdivided by a wall into two spaces (3, 4). The first space (3) forms a connection between the reaction gas inlet (1) and a number of the tube ends the second space (4) forms a connection between the remainder of the tube ends and the outlet (2) of the cooled reaction gas. The U-tubes (8, 9) are divided into two equal groups. The tube ends of the first group are connected to the first space (3) of the pressure chamber for reaction gas one of the tube ends of the second group is connected to the second space (4), and the other ends of the first group are connected to the other ends of the second group via connecting tubes (12).
