To avoid a brazing defect of an end of a tube and a tube insertion hole rim by securing a necessary amount of brazing material in a brazing portion of the end of the tube and the tube insertion hole rim, while improving production efficiency by improving workability in insertion of the end of the tube in a tube insertion hole of a header tank.
The header tank is composed of a header plate 15 and a tank plate. The tube insertion holes 15c, 15d larger than outline shapes of the ends of the tubes 10, 11 are formed in the header plate 15. After fitting a die 40 in an inner side of the header plate 15, the ends of the tubes 10, 11 are inserted into the tube insertion holes 15c, 15d. The tube insertion hole 15c rim of the header plate 15 is deformed toward an inner side of the tube insertion hole 15c to form a deformed part 15e, and an outer face of the tube 10 is brought into contact with the tube insertion hole 15c rim. Then, it is transferred into a furnace for brazing.
