The heat exchanger includes: a heat exchange module 2 comprising a narrow tube bundle in which the plurality of heat transfer narrow tubes 1 are arrayed and laminated; sealing members 3a-3c in which a heat exchange flow path 5 for distributing liquid to be heat-exchanged is formed crossing the longitudinal center part of the narrow tube bundle, both ends of the narrow tube bundle are exposed and the narrow tube bundle is sealed; and a housing 4 provided with heat transfer narrow tube headers 6-8 for introducing and leading out the heat medium liquid at both end parts of the narrow tube bundle and provided with a liquid-to-be-heat-exchanged introducing port 9 and leading-out port 10 at both end parts of the heat exchange flow path. The heat exchange module is divided in the flow path direction of the heat exchange flow path, a plurality of stages of narrow tube bundle units 2a and 2b including the plurality of heat transfer narrow tubes respectively are formed, and the heat transfer narrow tubes belonging to the respective units cross each other between the adjacent narrow tube bundle units. By the heat transfer narrow tube headers, the heat medium liquid successively passes through two or more sets of the narrow tube bundle units.
