Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger in which a level of thermal medium retention layer at a communicating part between an upper heat exchanging chamber and a lower heat exchanging chamber can be detected continuously for a long period of time.
SOLUTION: A plurality of thermo-couples 25 showing a superior anti-heat characteristic and a superior acid resistance characteristic are arranged at a refractory wall 24 forming an upper segment of a communicating pipe 5 communicating with an upper heat exchanging chamber 2 and a lower heat exchanging chamber 4 and forming a lower segment of the upper heat exchanging chamber 2. A level of retention layer 14 of thermal medium 8 is detected in an output difference between the upper and lower thermocouples 25 under utilization of a temperature difference between the high temperature gas flowing in the upper heat exchanging chamber 2 and the thermal medium 8 retained at the lower segment of the upper heat exchanging chamber 2. An amount of feeding of the thermal medium 8 fed from a feeding port 9 of the upper heat exchanging chamber 2 is controlled in response to a level of the retention layer 14 detected, the retention layer 14 is kept at a proper thickness and the high temperature gas and the low temperature gas are positively shielded and concurrently a high heat exchanging efficiency can be assured.
