PURPOSE: To facilitate the manufacture and assembly of a trubulent flow promoting body and to reduce the number of working steps by a method wherein a plurality of turbulent flow promoting bodies each in the form of a plate having projections on both sides thereof are arranged in passages among rectangular pipes.
CONSTITUTION: The turbulent flow promoting bodies 5 arranged in the low temperature side passages 3 formed among the outer walls of the rectangular pipes 2 and extending normal to the rectangular pipe passages. Each of the turbulent flow promoting bodies 5 is in U-shape and includes plate-like turbulent flow promoting members 7 and 8 each of which is provided with the projections 6 formed on both sides thereof in an alternative fashion and an intermediate connecting members 9 which connects the members 7 and 8. In this case, the raised end surface 10 of each of the projections 6 is inclined downward to face the connecting member 9 so that the end surface is brought into pressure contact with the outer wall of each of the rectangular pipes. Further, the lengths of the members 7 are made different from each other. Consequently, when the turbulent promoting body 5 is fixed, if the longer member 7 is set in position first, then the top end of the member 8 comes into contact with the outer wall of the rectangular pipe adjacent thereto so that insertion of the turbulent flow promoting body 5 between the adjoining rectangular pipes is not hindered and the positioning operation of the body 5 is facilitated.
