Abstract:
To provide a heat insulator which can suppress generation of noise resulting from vibration of a turbocharger or the like.SOLUTION: A heat insulator has a pair of halves with a semi-circular cross section which are arranged along a flow direction of an exhaust gas and form a hollow cylindrical body. Each of the pair of halves has a pair of flange parts extending radially outward from both side edges, and an annular rib part which is formed so as to be recessed radially inward along a circumferential direction at a position opposite a clearance between an upstream-side end edge of a downstream-side insulator covering an exhaust pipe connected to an outlet side of a catalyst case of a manifold converter, and a downstream-side end edge of a heat insulation material. The pair of halves cover the catalyst case with the heat insulation material sandwiched therebetween in a state where the pair of flange parts are mated each other. When attached so as to cover the upstream-side end edge part of the downstream-side insulator, the rib part is arranged so as to be continuous in the circumferential direction, such that a bottom face part of the rib part abuts on the catalyst case.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
