To provide a heat pump hot water heater capable of efficiently heating the water by collecting heat by a suction pipe without increasing manufacturing costs and jumboizing a device.
This heat pump water heater comprises a compressor storage portion 111 composed of a partitioning plate 27 forming an air distributing circuit for distributing the air to an evaporator 24, and a housing outer covering plate 32 for partitioning the outside air, and receiving a compressor 21 inside thereof, and heat is exchanged between a pipe portion disposed in the compressor storage portion 111 and the air in the compressor storage portion 111 in the suction pipe 40 connecting an outlet of the evaporator 24 and the compressor 21. The heat leaked from the compressor 21 and a high-temperature portion of a refrigerant pipe is collected by a suction gas, so that a temperature of a gas refrigerant sucked into the compressor 21 is increased, and a temperature of a discharged gas of the compressor 21 can be also increased, thus hot water can be produced at lower high-pressure, and the efficiency of the heat pump water heater can be improved.
