This heat pump type water heating device comprises a heat pump circuit constituted by circularly connecting a compressor 11, a heat exchanger for hot water supply 12, a pressure reducing device 13 and an evaporator 14, a hot water storage tank 16 for storing a liquid for hot water supply, liquid piping capable of circulating the liquid in the hot water storage tank through a heat pump water heater, a pump 18 for circulating the liquid in the hot water storage tank to the liquid piping, a flowing-in water temperature detecting means and a supplied hot water temperature detecting means 20 detecting the temperatures of flowing-in water and supplied hot water of the heat exchanger for hot water supply, a hot water storage tank temperature detecting means 21 detecting a temperature of the liquid stored in the hot water storage tank, an outside air temperature detecting means 22 detecting an outside air temperature, and a microcomputer 23 controlling a rotational frequency of the compressor and a rotational frequency of the pump. The flow rate of the liquid flowing into the heat pump water heater is calculated and estimated on the basis of the temperatures of flowing-in water and/or supplied hot water obtained by the flowing-in water and/or supplied hot water temperature detecting means.
