Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an adsorbent having such properties that it high flame- retardant property and high adsorption performance shows no loss in the specific surface area since the binder component does not cover the surface of activated carbon fiber that thickness of the adsorbent sheet can be suppressed since a small amt. of a heat-sticking binder is used, and that the laminated body is made compact to have good air permeability effectively adsorbs odors or the like.
CONSTITUTION: This heat-resistant flame-retardant adsorbent is manufactured by laminating embossed sheets 1 of activated carbon fiber and not embossed sheets 2 with a heat-resistant adhesive in a manner that the top area 3 of the embossement in one sheet is bonded with the area not embossed in another sheet. The embossed sheet 1 is obtd. by embossing an activated carbon fiber sheet 2 which is obtd. by wet paper-making method using 40-87wt.% activated carbon fiber, 7-54wt.% aromatic polyamide short fiber, 3-50wt.% pulp aromatic polyamide, and 3-20wt.% heat-sticking fiber as the essential components. Or, the adsorbent is manufactured by alternately laminating activated carbon fiber sheets 2 and embossed activated carbon fiber sheets 1 with a heat-resistant adhesive.
