To provide a metallic sliding member which inhibits a Lewis acid catalyst contained in a metallic sliding member from reacting with a fluorine-based lubricant when the metallic sliding member has reached a high temperature, and shows sufficient heat resistance.
The base material of the metallic sliding member which is used together with the fluorine-based lubricant such as perfluoropolyether (PFPE) includes a nitrogen-containing compound therein. Then, even when the metallic sliding member employs the base material including a raw material with a strong catalytic ability as a Lewis acid such as iron or a graphite powder, the metallic sliding member shows improved durability by making the Lewis acid trap nitrogen atom in the nitrogen-containing compound and be inactivated, even when the sliding surface has reached a high temperature, because the nitrogen-containing compound inhibits the catalytic reaction of the Lewis acid, prevents the decomposition of the fluorine-based lubricant, prevents the corrosion of the base material, and prevents abnormal abrasion possibly caused by the corrosion.
