To obtain a heat resistant resin causing a slight decrease in weight even at an extremely high temperature and excellent in heat stability by compounding a polyphenol obtained by polymerizing a phenol monomer containing an alkyne as a substituent.
A mixture of an acetylene phenol optionally bearing a substituent on the phenolic nucleus with a peroxide, or a mixture further added with a phenol optionally bearing a substituent on the phenolic nucleus is reacted in the presence of an enzyme such as peroxidases, laccases or the like to give the objective resin. As the acetylene phenol is preferable the one represented by the formula. In the formula, R1 is a substituent containing acetylenic group; and R2 is a substituent. R1 is ethynyl or propargyloxy. R2 is, for example, hydroxyl, carboxyl, mercapto, nitro, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl, an arylalkyl, a halogen, ether, ester, an acyl amino, a substituted amino or the like, and (m) is 0-3.
