PURPOSE: To make a material lightweight, to provide superior heat resistance, and to secure the strength of a material at high temp. by adding specific amounts of Ti to a Zr3Al-base material.
CONSTITUTION: A heat resisting material has a Zr3Al-base composition consisting of, by atom, 23-27% Al, 1-45% Ti, and the balance essentially Zr. The yield strength of this Ti-added Zr3Al material has remarkable temp. dependency, and further, remarkable yield strength-improving tendensy is observed in the material with rise in temp. until a temp. of about 800°K is reached. Moreover, the addition of Ti acts effectively on the lightening of the weight of the material. By using this heat resisting material, the properties of a heat resisting equipment member can be improved.
