Title:
HEAT-STABLE XYLANASE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3435946
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a neat-stable xylanase capable or decomposing xylan and useful for the bleaching pretreatment of paper-making pulp and the production of a functional xylooligosaccharide, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This heat-stable xylanase XP1 or heat-stable xylanase XP2 is produced by the culture of Bacillus sp. 2113 (FERM BP-5264), etc., and has the following physical and chemical properties. (1) Both enzymes hydrolyze the 1,4-β-D-xyloside bond of xylan to produce a reducing sugar such as xylooligosaccharide and XP2 further produces xylose; (2) both enzymes are active on xylan-containing hard-wood pulp, wheat bran, etc., as well as prepared xylan such as birch xylan and wheat xylan; (3) the optimum pH is 5-8 for both enzymes; (4) the optimum temperature is 50-80°C for XP1 and 60-90°C for XP2 and the residual activity is about ≥50% for XP1 after the treatment at 60°C for 30min and about ≥90% for XP2 after the treatment at 70° for 30min.
