Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the hardness high and also to improve the toughness and moreover, to enable to be shortened the tool exchange time and to be reduced the tool regrinding expense, by irradiating a high energy density heat source on the surface of high speed steel tool after carrying out hardening and tempering treatment and carrying out rapid heating and self cooling.

CONSTITUTION: The support 3 is fixed standing on the clamp jig base 2 fixed on the table 1 movable in before and behind, left and right direction. The jig for tool clamp 4 is attached to the support 3 by the geared motor 5 rotatably and is heated rapidly by irradiating laser beam from the laser beam generating apparatus 8 on the edge part 7 of the high speed steel tool 6 carried out a fixed hardening and tempering treatment, through the mirror 9 and the lens 10 and then self cooling is carried out. By the above method, abrasion resisting property of the tool is increase 60W100% because hardness of the tool is risen 2W8 HRC scale.
