PURPOSE: To freely adjust the staying time of the steel material moving at a constant speed in each temperature zone and improve the heat treatment efficiency of a continuous type heat treatment furnace by partitioning the inside of said furnace by means of movable partition walls.
CONSTITUTION: Multiple rollers 2 are mounted along the in-furnace axial line of a horizontally long continuous type heat treatment furnace 1 and the steel material to be treated 5 is conveyed at a constant speed from inlet 3 to outlet 4 by the revolutions of the rollers. Plural sets of vertically pairing partition walls 6, 7 are provided in the furnace to divide the furnace inside to temperature zones of heating, soaking, cooling, etc. The partition walls 6, 7 are mounted on moving trucks 8, 9 respectively and are freely movable to the axial direction of the furnace so that the lengths of the respective temperature zones may be controlled. According to the form of the heat treatment of the steel material to be treated 5, the lengths of the respective temperature zones are controlled and the staying time of the steel material 5 in each temperature zone is changed as desired, whereby the treatment efficiency of the heat treatment furnace is increased.
