The carbon-containing refractory 21 is housed in an insulation box 2 having ventilation characteristic in a heat treatment furnace main body 3 and heat insulating material powder 4 is charged in a space between the carbon-containing refractory 21 and the heat insulation box 2. The carbon-containing refractory 21 generates heat to be heat-treated by irradiating the heat insulation box 2 with the microwave from a microwave oscillator 11. A volatile component containing carbon released from the carbon-containing refractory 21 by the heating is formed into carbon to be deposited on the heat insulating material powder 4 and is combusted and removed by the absorption of energy of the microwave.
