PURPOSE: To simultaneously carry out the anticorrosive treatment and cooling of a metallic strip by passing the strip through a heating chamber in nonoxidizing atmosphere, introducing the strip heated to a high temp. into an air cooling chamber, blowing a nonoxidizing gas at a low temp., and introducing the strip cooled to a specified temp. into a tank for cooling water incorporated with a corrosion inhibitor.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic strip 1 is passed through a heating chamber 5 filled with a nonoxidizing atmospheric gas. The strip 1 heated to a prescribed high temp. is introduced into an air cooling chamber 6, where a nonoxidizing gas is blown at a low temp. to cool the strip 1 to 150W300°C. The cooled strip 1 is further cooled to ≤80°C by immersion in a cooling water tank 7 holding cooling water incorporated with a corrosion inhibitor. The tank 7 has been installed over a receiving tank 10 for receiving overflowing cooling water, and the water in the tank 10 is returned to the tank 7 through a circulating pump 11, piping 12 and a cooler 13. A temp. sensor 14 put in the tank 7 detects the temp. of the water, and the cooler 13 is worked so as to maintain the water at the prescribed temp.
