To provide a heater in an ammonia absorption-type refrigerator wherein a problem caused by the temperature difference in heat transfer tubes pipe near flame is solved.
This heater 1 mounted in an ammonia absorption-type refrigerator for heating a concentrated ammonia aqueous solution from an absorber, is provided with a lateral burner 7 on a side wall part of a combustion chamber 2 wherein a number of stainless steel heat transfer tubes 4, 4 are vertically arranged to heat the concentrated ammonia aqueous solution, bent parts 4a are formed on the way of a plurality of heat transfer tubes 4A mounted near the burner 7, and a protective layer 8 of nickel-chrome alloy is formed on a surface part at a burner side, of each heat transfer tube 4A provided with the bent part 4a.
