To combine the guarantee of heating performance at the automatic stop of an engine and the decrease of power consumption and to prevent the worsening of restartability of the engine to prevent the increase of fuel consumption after the restart of the engine.

This heating device for a vehicle is provided with the engine mounted to the vehicle so as to be automatically stopped when automatic stop conditions are established, and to be automatically started when automatic starting conditions are established. The heating device is also provided with a heater core for heating air with engine cooling water as a heat source; a motor-driven pump driven at the stop of the engine to circulate the cooling water to the heater core; a blower fan for blowing the air heated by the heater core; and a control means for controlling not to drive the motor-driven pump when the elapsed time from the automatic stop of the engine is within the set time but controlling to drive the motor-driven pump when the elapsed time exceeds the set time in the case the engine is automatically stopped in the state of heating by driving the blower fan.
