PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the contamination of piping in operation starting and in the event of abnormality of heating sterilization treatment of waste water.
SOLUTION: The sterilization method of holding the waste water A heated to a sterilization temperature by a heater 6 for the prescribed time, then lowering the temperature thereof in the high-temperature flow passages of preheaters 15 and 16 is provided with an inlet valve device 18 for selectively sending the waste water A of a waste water tank 1 or a cleaning liquid I of a cleaning liquid tank 17 through low-temperature flow passages of preheaters 15 and 16 to the heater 6 and an outlet valve device 21 for selectively sending the effluent of the high-temperature flow passages of the preheaters 15 and 16 to the waste water tank 1 or the cleaning liquid tank 17. In the sterilization operation to the waste water, the waste water A is sent to the heater 6 by the inlet valve device 18 and the effluent of the high-temperature flow passages of the preheaters 15 and 16 is released to the discharge channel 14 by the outlet valve device 21. When the temperature falls below the sterilization temperature in the outlet of the heater 6, the cleaning liquid I is sent to the heater 6 by the inlet valve device 18 and the waste water A in the system is delivered to the waste water tank 1 by the outlet valve device 21 and thereafter the cleaning liquid I is refluxed to the cleaning liquid tank 17.
