PURPOSE: To provide a heating system, employing a heat pump, which sharply saves energy even when a heat source is located in a remote place and a heat source temperature is low by a method wherein a material the phase of which is changeable is contained in heat source fluid and heating is effected by means of a heat recovery device to produce the change of a phase.
CONSTITUTION: An external heat recovery system 1 comprises a heat recovery device 4 to recover heat from cooling water for various devices, exhaust heat from a subway, and river water and sea water, and pipings 5 and 6. Heat source fluid being cold water containing ice pieces stored in an ice piece cold water tank 7 is fed through the piping 5 to the heat recovery device 5 with the aid of a heat source fluid pump 8. Heat is recovered at the heat recovery device and heated and fed to a first intermediate tank 9 through the piping 6. In the heat recovery device 4, ice pieces effect the change of a phase and heat is recovered in the form of a latent heat. Cold water is increased in temperature to effect recovery of heat in the form of a sensible heat. Since heat can be recovered through utilization of both a sensible heat and the latent heat, a flow rate may be reduced. Further, even when temperature is low, enough heat can be recovered.
