Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain high radiation illuminance over a wide range by arranging multiple bulkheads with pinholes between main electrodes so that the discharge path between the main electrodes passes through multiple pinholes of the bulkheads. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 is partitioned into many discharge spaces by bulkheads 4, the bulkheads have pinholes 5 to connect the discharge spaces to the adjacent discharge spaces. Discharge starting auxiliary electrodes 6a-6d are provided in the discharge spaces. A discharge path is formed to pass through the pinholes 5 in sequence and connect an anode and a cathode, the current density is increased near the pinholes 5, and strong ultraviolet-ray radiation is obtained. The radiation from multiple pinholes 5 is superimposed, and strong ultraviolet-ray radiation over a wide range is obtained.
