To provide a heavy metal collecting material which is obtained by making effective use of woody incineration ash to be generated as waste when woody biomass is burned, which promotes the utilization of the woody biomass as fuel, which can collect/recover heavy metals efficiently at a low cost and which can be reused and to provide a method for collecting heavy metals.
The heavy metal collecting material 3 for collecting heavy metals in a solution is obtained by press-molding the woody incineration ash 2 into pellets and is capable of being reused repeatedly. A method for recovering heavy metals comprises the steps of producing the heavy metal collecting material 3 by press-molding the woody incineration ash 2 into pellets; adding the produced heavy metal collecting material 3 to a heavy metal-containing solution; putting the immersed heavy metal collecting material 3 in a strongly acidic solution to elute the collected heavy metals into the strongly acidic solution.
