PURPOSE: To provide an adsorvent showing a high hydrophilicity and an excellent heavy metal ion adsorption property through reaction of cyanuric chloride, thiocarbohydrazide, an aminosulfonic acid and a polyisocyanate in a polar nonprotonic solvent to harden.
CONSTITUTION: Thiocarbohydrazide and an aminosulfonic acid as shown by the formula I (R1 represents a bivalent organic radical of aliphatic or aromatic group with C2 to 12, R2 H or an univalent organic radical of aliphatic group with C1 to 2 and M H, an alkaline metal or a tertiary organic base), such as sulfanilic acid, are allowed to react with each other or to be mixed with cyanuryl chloride at the ratio of 1W3 mols. to 1 mol. in a polar nonprotonic solvent with a dielectric constant of 30 or more, such as dimethylformamido. A polyisocyanate as shown by the formula II (l represents an integer of 0 to 3) is added to the resulting product or mixture and cured to produce a heavy metal ion adsorvent. Herein, the compound as shown by the formula I and II respectively set at 6 to 20% of the total weight in the solvent.
