To provide a heavy object conveying method, easily transferring a heavy object in the horizontal direction in carrying in and out the heavy object to a dry container or the like.
The lower surface of a base part 69 of a pipe pallet 21 to be transferred is provided with a skid 19 to freely slide on mutually parallel inclined surfaces. When the force F is applied to the skid 19 in the horizontal direction, although the horizontal movement of an upper wedge 57 is stopped by a stopper 50, a lower wedge 56 is further moved. Thus, the upper wedge 57 rises, and the pipe pallet 21 is pushed up by an upper plate 48. When the force F is further continuously applied, a part of the weight W of the pipe pallet 21 is transmitted as a weight W1 to a platform 18 through the skid 19. When the coefficient of friction of a lower plate 47 is set smaller, the frictional force (F1 + F2) working on the pipe pallet 21 and the skid 19 is decreased from the initial frictional force F0 to further facilitate transfer of the pipe pallet 21.
