Abstract:

PURPOSE: To continuously liquefy helium.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic element 1 and a superconducting magnet 9 are provided in liquid helium tanks 10, 12. Helium gas is continuously supplied by a helium gas loop 20 by a compressor 21, partly cooled by heat exchangers 22, 23, 24 and first, and second cold heads 15, 4 and further by a JT valve 25, and introduced into the tank 12. The helium gas is fed to a heat exchanger 28 by switching valves 26, 27, exchanged with heat generated from the element 1, and the heat is radiated. The gas is stopped at the exchanger 28 by the valves 26, 27, the gas in the tank 12 is condensed by the element 1 becoming at a low temperature, the part of the evaporated gas is returned to the loop 20 by a valve 30, and the gas is also supplied from the exterior, and hence the gas can be continuously liquefied.
