To provide a hemming technique by which working time is shortened and productivity is raised.
This hemming apparatus 20 consists of a moving structure 30 which moves traversely toward first and second works 12, 13 and also is movable vertically, a horizontal shaft 22 which is provided on this moving structure and also extended in a direction diagonally crossed with the traverse direction, a punch 23 which is mounted to this horizontal shaft 22 freely tiltably, a punch tilting means 24 for tilting this punch 23, an elevating and lowering means 25 for partially moving the moving structure 30 and a traversely moving means 27 for moving the moving structure 30 as a whole. According to this invention, by adding an element for tilting the punch to basic operation for traversely and vertically moving the punch, hemming work is performed by a series of continuous operations, that is, substantially in one stage, working time is shortened and productivity is raised.
