Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a herbicidal composition which contains a combination of benfuresate (a herbicide) with a specific herbicide such as bensulfuron-methyl, thus manifests synergistically increased herbicidal effect and is suitable for controlling weeds of umbrella plants or spike rush (Cyperus) which is difficult to be controlled. CONSTITUTION: This herbicidal composition comprises (a) benfuresate and (b) a herbicide selected from bensulfuron-methyl, benzofenap, pyrazolate, esprocarb, bromobutide, furyloxyfen, pretilachlor, cinmethylin and mefenacet. These herbicides are simultaneously or sequentially applied to weeds or their growing fields, preferably applied to a wide range of gramineous weeds and broad leaf weeds in rice plants, particularly in rice plants for rice paddies. Particularly, weeds of umbrella plants or spike rush (Cyperus) which is difficult to be controlled can be much better controlled than in the case that the components (a) and (b) are applied separately.
