An air conditioner has a hermetic compressor, an evaporator, a condenser, and decompression device. The devices are mutually connected by a working fluid passage to constitute a refrigeration cycle, the hermetic compressor has a certain capacity, and the air conditioner has no inverter control function for controlling the rotating speed of the hermetic compressor. In the air conditioner, a suction part of the hermetic compressor is connected with a discharge part of the hermetic compressor by a pipe with solenoid valve, the solenoid valve is opened before the stop of the hermetic compressor to reduce pressure difference in the hermetic compressor and then the hermetic compressor is stopped to reduce vibrations.
