Ribs 161 and 165 having a width equal to a thickness of a wall surface 155 of a muffler body 145 for supporting an inlet pipe 153 and an outlet pipe 163 of a suction muffler 131, are respectively arranged on the wall surface 155 of the muffler body. Thus, since heat generated by a motor-driven element 111 and a compression element 113 in a sealed vessel 101 is hardly transmitted to the cold refrigerant gas 115 passing through the inlet pipe 153 and the outlet pipe 163 while holding rigidity of the wall surface 155 of the muffler body 145, a heat receiving loss is reduced, so that the highly efficient and low noise hermetic compressor can be provided.
