NEW MATERIAL: A heterocyclic compd. of formula I [wherein R1 and R2 are each H, NO2, NH2, CN, a halogen, or SO2NH2; -X-Y-Z is -N=N-NR3- (wherein R3 is H, an alkyl or CF3), -NR3-N=N-, =N-NR3-N=, -S-CH=N-, -N=CH=S-, -CH=C(CO2R3)-S-, =N-O-N=, =N-S-N=, etc.].

EXAMPLE: 7,8-Dihydroxy-1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-1,2,3-triazolo[4,5-f]-quinoxaline.

USE: Medicines with high glutamate antagonist activity. Being effective to epilepsia, alienation, dementia, convulsion, charley horse, etc.

PROCESS: E.g. a compd. of formula II is reacted with an oxalate or its reactive deriv. to obtain the compd. of the formula I.
