To obtain a new compound which is a specific heterocyclic compound having bronchodilation action, hypotensive action, antianginal action, cholesterol lowering action, etc., giving little side effects and effective e.g. for the treatment of pollinosis caused by cedar pollen, etc.
This new heterocyclic compound (salt) is expressed by formula I [R is a (substituted)amino; Z is S or O; A and B are bonded with each other to represent the presence or absence of a benzene ring; (n) is 0, 1 or 2], has bronchodilation action, hypotensive action, antianginal action, cholesterol lowering action, etc., and is useful as an agent for the treatment of pollinosis caused by cedar pollen, asthma, stenocardia, etc., a cholesterol lowering agent, a hypotensor, etc. The compound can be produced by subjecting a dicyano compound of formula II to intramolecular rearrangement reaction (Smiles rearrangement reaction) and then to intramolecular cyclization reaction.
