NEW MATERIAL:A heteropolyacid salt shown by the formula (X is halogen, atom of nitrogen family, or atom of oxygen family; R is 1W30C alkyl;, or 6W40C aryl; Yn- is anion of heteropolyacid; m is 2 or 3; n is integer of 3, 4, 5, etc.).
EXAMPLE: Diphenyliodium phosphotungstate.
USE: A heteropolyaicd salt having photodisintegration properties which is rapidly decomposed by irradiation with light rays to liberate a heteropolyacid, useful in a wide range such as a resist, a photosetting resin, etc.
PREPARATION: For example, a mixture of potassium iodate, acetic anhydride, benzene, and dichloromethane is reacted with conc. sulfuric acid, then with an aqueous solution of phosphotungstate to give crude diphenyliodium phosphotungstate, which is recrystallized from acetone, to give the example compound.
