Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a material having excellent corrosion resistance and durability in a severe environment such as a coastal area or under corrosive condition such as exposure to acidic rain.

CONSTITUTION: This high corrosion resistant material essentially consists of stainless steel containing >13wt.% Cr, and the surface is coated with a film having zinc hydroxide as the effective component. The hydroxide is Zn (OH)2, ZnCl2.4Zn(OH)2 or ZnCO3.Zn(OH)2H2O. Thereby, due to the anticorrosion effect of Zn hydroxide and pH buffering effect with stainless steel having good corrosion resistance, the material has excellent corrosion resistance even in a corrosive environment with the presence of clorine ion.
