To obtain a high damping rubber composition having excellent absorption of vibration energy for earthquake-proof, vibration removal, vibration-proof, or the like, of architectural structures and stable rubber rigidity and a quake- proof structure using the same.

The high damping rubber composition is obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. of rubber consisting essentially of diene-based rubber with 40-100 pts.wt. of silica, 0.5-15 pts.wt. of a disulfide bond-containing silica coupling agent represented by the formula (the average value of (n) is 1.5≤n≤2.5) at 130-185°C maximum mixing temperature.
