PURPOSE: To obtain a high-density knitted fabric having excellent water resistance and windbreak performance by interlacing low shrinkable multifilament yarn of a fine size and highly shrinkable multifilament yarn of a large size wherein the difference in shrinkage factor in boiling water is a prescribed value or above and knitting the resultant conjugate yarn at a density so as to exhibit specific physical properties.
CONSTITUTION: Low shrinkable multifilament yarn having a fine single filament size of <1.0 de and highly shrinkable multifilament yarn having a large single filament size of ≥0.5 de wherein the difference in shrinkage factor in boiling water is ≥15% are interlaced with a fluid to provide conjugate yarn, which is then used to knit a gray fabric having ≥50g/m2 basis weight. The obtained gray fabric is subsequently passed through relaxing, dyed, finished, set and shrunk according to a conventional method so as to provide ≥50% increase ratio of the basis weight. The resultant fabric is then subjected to water repelling treatment to afford a high-density knitted fabric, having the aforementioned multifilament yarn of the fine size mainly arranged on the surface of the knitted fabric, 0.2-1.0g/cm3 knitted fabric density, 5-30cc/cm2.sec quantity of air permeation, ≥8000g/m2.24hr moisture permeability and ≥0.7 clo value {=(1/0.155)×[(20×0.01)/E]} [E is the power consumption (W)] and rich in durability.
