Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove Cu and Sn in scrap and to efficiently execute preheating of the scrap by dipping the scrap into Na2S-FeS mixed material molten treating furnace, which is held to the prescribed temp. by using converter by-product gas.

CONSTITUTION: The Co-containing by-product gas generated at the time of refining in the converter, is used to obtain the molten Na2S-FeS mixed material. The high Cu and Sn-containing scrap is dipped into the Na2S-FeS mixed material molten treating furnace held to 600-1000°C. By this method, Cu and Sn in the scrap are removed. Then, the scrap under preheating condition together with the above scrap is charged into the converter and refined.
